This movie was based on what, at the time, was the longest running non musical Broadway show. It stars a magnificent William Powell in the lead role (Oscar Nominated for Best Actor In A Leading Role for this film in 1948) as an exasperated but loving father, and Irene Dunn as his wife. Elizabeth Taylor is often given a top billing for this movie but she is maybe fourth in the cast list below the eldest son. A well crafted, beautifully scripted comedy drama, which is about 2 hours long - cut up into 7 more or less equal parts.
