It's been billed as the worst movie ever made.

First things first. This movie isn't the worst movie ever made. It's got awful dialogue, the acting is mostly terrible and the special effects are utterly stupidly cheap and nasty (take the UFO's as an example - having said that they aren't a million miles away from the bad rocket flying through the air in Flash Gordon).

On the positive side, the camera is always in focus, the lighting is, in the main, fine, and the atmosphere of a horror movie has definitely been captured in certain places. It's just that it seems as if the director didn't have a firm control over his actors and accepted performances which were not up to scratch. Perhaps the actors were incompetent, or perhaps they were just frustrated by the terrible dialogue, or perhaps there is another reason.
