Hancock's Half Hour - TV (1956-60)
All the public domain Hancock's Half Hour television shows there are will be linked to eventually on this page. The picture quality is variable due to the age of the recordings. They are public domain as they were broadcast 1960 and earlier in the UK. (Hancock's 'Blood Donor' and 'Radio Ham' (broadcast in 1961) will become public domain 1st January 2012 - I'll put them up then).
This very British BBC sit com set the bar for quality at the time, and has been bettered rarely since. The combination of Tony Hancock's superb delivery, Sid James' strong foil and some fantastic scripts mean this is a genuine treasure of British comedy now in the public domain for everyone to enjoy.

John Freeman interviews Tony Hancock in this intimate interview conducted at the beginning of 1960 for the BBC. The camera is so in the face you can see even the smallest facial tick, and the occasional water coming to the eyes. [Link] |
